Did you know ketchup is a non-Newtonian fluid with thin shearing properties?

What You Need

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1.5 tsp pumpkin spice or nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger
  • .5 cup of softened butter
  • ~.5 cup ketchup
  • .5 cup water
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • An egg
  • A small loaf pan. Mine was 7″ x 4″ x 2″
  • For icing:
  • A tub of cream cheese (about .5 cup)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 0.5 tbsp butter

Do This

  • Preheat oven to 350°F/ 175°C
  • Mix everything but the vanilla, cream cheese, and powdered sugar together
  • Pour batter in the pan
  • Bake loaf for about 60 minutes, until a toothpick in the center comes out clean
  • Remove cake from oven and set aside to cool
  • As cake is cooling, mix vanilla, powdered sugar, rest of the butter and cream cheese together
  • Frost the cake and eat it
